The Good Business Index

This index is a creation of the Good Business Initiative, supported by the ECC. It’s a benchmark tool designed to investigate and showcase the environmental, social and governance performance of major companies operating in the UK. Established with principles of fairness, reliability and repeatability, we hoped we could create a model to bring attention to some of the issues we care about, and believe are on the conscious of many. From greenhouse gas emissions to a gender diverse board, our indicators have been created entirely with publicly available data. This too has been a principle of this index; to encourage greater transparency and bring a focus to what consumers and workers can find out about a business themselves without having to employ a data collection agency.

Launched in 2017 ReStart targets over-50s who have been unemployed for between six months and a year. For the 2020 ReStart Programme we collaborated with Allen & Overy LLP to help run the programme. Through online workshops, digital modules, mentoring by A&O volunteers and one to one coaching by our coaches at  GBI, participants were supported to rediscover strengths and to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to help them get back into work.

ReStart supports people from any background or profession, particularly those who have a fresh outlook on their future employment and would consider changing roles or industries.
